Autumn Fruits

Just picking the last of the grapes in the tunnel and pruning the vines for next year. Got a good crop of sweet grapes this year.

Also sorting out the strawberry plants and picking the last of the perpetual strawberries which are so good as they give two crops each summer.

It has been such a strange summer for the garden. We are having lovely weather at last - but it is September - the plants are confused as it was so wet in July and August.
I have autumn primroses and gentians out along with foxgloves - seems very odd.
They look lovely no matter what month it is.

Took this photo on the way to Breakish from Portree. Such a nice cloud pattern.

I am pleased with this window box this year. It has a good variety of colours and has lasted well. I grew the petunias myself from bought seed and the nasturtiums are from seed I saved last year.

I love also the colour of the agapanthus flowers - they are at their best just now.

There is lots of meadowsweet around this year so I picked some to try making tea with it. It says the leaves and flowers make a mild though rather woody tasting tea that combines well with spices.

You can add honey and cinnamon to improve taste and soothe sore throats. Might be useful in the winter!

The peaches are ripening nicely in the greenhouse. Looking forward to trying them though we never get very many and they have to be picked at just the right moment as they go over fast.
